Photocurean is on Stocksy

Stocksy is a hot new stock photography agency that I was recently accepted into. The Stocksy curators have a keen eye for the modern aesthetic and use a business model that is fair to photographers. The images on the site are authentic, inspiring, and current. Stocksy is very selective about who they accept, and in Q3 of 2015 over 1500 applications were submitted and only 39 photographers were selected.

LB Steak Menlo Park

I was excited to get the call to shoot for LB Steak in Menlo Park. The restaurant is now going to create burgers from their top of the line steak for lunch. Chef Kelsey Casavan impressed me with her innovative burger combos. I confidently tasted the barely seared Australian Wagu pictured below. Incredible flavor!

 

  

Frances's Melissa Perello has exciting plans for this spring

Exciting news for Frances fans: the popular San Francisco restaurant's Melissa Perello is opening a new restaurant in Lower Pacific Heights, to be named Octavia. I had the pleasure of shooting the Frances crew when Octavia was just a glimmer in Melissa's eye. I was intrigued to learn that Frances's kitchen was almost entirely female, which is a rare occurrence. Her sous chef Michaela Rahorst is stepping up to the plate at Frances as plans for the sister restaurant become a reality.

Holiday Catalog Project

In 2014, I had the pleasure of working with an fun crew and a talented, super-organized art director on a series of shoots for Snapfish. The final website will not be rolled out for a few months but if you would like a sneak peak of some of our work on their beta site click here.

In the meantime, we are excited to have a printed holiday catalog piece on thick, matte paper. Since you can't touch it from where you are I posted some of my favorite spreads below. Please note that I did not shoot the people images on the products in this catalog - they were stock photos. On sherryheck.com, all the images you see on the products are mine. Looking forward to more shoots with this great client!

Sewing Solutions

A few months ago, I had the pleasure of working with the talented sewist, shop owner, and teacher, Nicole Vasbinder to create all the photos for her first book which is already on the Amazon newsstand. This book is published under the title "Sewing Solutions" in the USA and "Stress-Free Sewing" in the UK. We shot all the photos for the book in her light-filled sewing studio and shop, StitchCraft, in Petaluma, California. She used her vast array of colorful patterned material to create examples for many of her sewing techniques. The stylist, Heather Sansky, brought some fun, quirky props to bring a vintage tone the chapter openers and cover shots. This book will make a great holiday gift for anyone who wants to take their sewing skills up a notch!
