Gary Erickson, the founder of
Clif Bar & Company, did not sell his business to Quaker Oats in 2000 for 120 million dollars. Instead of become rich and retiring, he chose to keep his company because he decided that he could do more good in the world through Clif Bar than being a retired man. Since then, Clif has been a charitable, community oriented, health-conscious company and developed a number of new products:
Luna Bars,
Clif Family Wines (soon to be certified organic) and
Gary & Kit's Napa Valley (snacks and dukkah spice blends), among others.
Anna Callaway is the food scientist mastermind behind the snacks and spice blends. She created and styled these healthy dishes below for recipe cards that will soon be found with the new
Gary & Kit's Napa Valley spice blends and snacks. (In the last photo she is pouring the dressing on the reconstructed butter lettuce salad.) I tasted all the recipes with the paired wines and look forward to making them at home.
